Lower leg injuries

The main injuries to the lower leg are calf strain, lower leg contusion (bruise), shin splints and Achilles tendinitis. In sport the lower leg is very susceptible to injury due to the large amount of stress that it endures whilst running, jumping and stopping suddenly, twisting and turning. As most of us are not built perfectly, some injuries result from legs being slightly different lengths and also poor technique, bad footwear, bad running surfaces or changes in training programs.
