In the process of returning to the huddle, Hughes fell to the turf holding his chest. He was later pronounced dead at the Henry Ford Hospital, but evidence points to him dying on the field. Warren Moon Nearly Crippled Against Vikings
Warren Moon had a tough series of plays against a very fast Vikings defense. Initially, he was sacked by John Randall, who executed a powerful bull rush. Following that, Carlos Jenkins delivered a vicious blindside hit on Moon, causing a fumble that Anthony Parker recovered and returned for a 58-yard touchdown. This defensive touchdown was the fifth in the last three games for the Vikings. Moon's protection broke down, leaving Jenkins unblocked and allowing him to build momentum for the impactful hit.
