Massive Crash at Liège-Bastogne-Liège

During the 2022 Liège-Bastogne-Liège men's race, a massive crash occurred on the Col du ... A number of riders hit the deck at high speed, resulting in many sitting in ditches by the side of the road. One of the Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl riders was down, along with a rider from EF Education-EasyPost, who was trying to remove bikes from on top of him. The crash left saddles and bike pieces scattered everywhere. Although all the riders appeared to be moving and starting to sit up, many were visibly battered. Several EF Education-EasyPost riders were involved, with at least five of their seven riders affected, including Simon Carr. The cause seemed to be a touch of wheels near the front, which then spread across the road, making it unavoidable for many. Only around 20 riders managed to avoid the crash. The incident caused a significant disruption, with riders like Warbass, Christy Nike, Goldstein, Rigoberto Urán, and Roman Bardet among those down. The shock was evident, especially since the crash happened so near the front of the race.
