Homegrowns Presented by Elephant Insurance: Reggie Cannon
I'm Reggie Cannon, an FC Dallas homegrown player. When I first trained with the first team, I felt like I belonged. It took time, but it was my journey. Growing up, I was always ahead of the other kids in soccer. My family wasn't into soccer until now. Playing made me feel at home, and becoming a professional soccer player has always been my dream.
UCLA prepared me for professional soccer, teaching me more in a few months than many other experiences. It was a scary step since my family values college education, but I pursued my dream. At 18, I was a professional player living with my parents, but now I have my own place.
In the locker room, it's nice to have friends my age like Paxton. We get along with everyone, but having a close friend is special. I enjoy playing video games like Fortnite, Legend of Zelda, and Pokémon to relax.
I aim to be the best right-back in the league and make the MLS All-Star game. With hard work and focus, I believe I can elevate my game to the next level.
