Astonishing Drama in Tiafoe vs. Raonic Over Unusual Rule | Toronto 2023
Tennis TV is the official live streaming service of the ATP Tour. A point of contention arose during a match when Francis Tiafoe ran into the section of the net beyond the singles post after hitting a winning shot. Initially, the umpire called a foul shot, but upon realizing the section of the net Tiafoe touched does not count as a touch, he awarded the point to Tiafoe. The umpire, Fergus Murphy, clarified that touching that part of the net is irrelevant in singles play, demonstrating excellent rule knowledge and decision-making under pressure. Tiafoe ultimately won the set 7-6.
