Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love React to Aaron Rodgers' Injury
Your thoughts on what has happened to him and that his season is tough. I feel for him and never want to see anybody go through that. Anytime you have a player of his caliber not playing the game of football, it's bad for our game. Thoughts are certainly with him, and I have so much respect for him. I've said it a million times just how tough he is, the competitor he is. When he went down to the ground, it had to have been something serious because I've seen him play through so much.
I know you weren't rehabbing to play quarterback in the NFL, but you were 40, which is what he's going to be when that happened. How difficult is that to come back from?
Well, I know I'm an elite physical specimen, but I would think that somebody of his caliber would have no problem coming back from it. I really believe it. I know the type of worker he is, so it's just going to be a choice of whether or not he wants to continue to play.
Did you reach out to him at all?
I did. I shot him a text. It sucked. I was excited to see him play, and it sucks for that to happen to him in the first series. I feel for him. I know he's going to bounce back, do his thing in recovery, and come back stronger. I sent him a text, but I know he's probably going through a lot right now; his phone's probably blowing up. His competitive spirit—you can just imagine how he's feeling at this point. As anyone would, having an injury like that is tough to hear about. He's probably obviously going through it with the injury. It just sucks; you never want to see that happen, and I feel for him.
Were you watching it live? Did you get to the TV in time?
Yeah, I was watching it. I was excited to watch those guys play.
