Bristol, in my opinion, is one of the most demanding places we go physically, so it was actually a good place to come to with an injury. But it is what it is. I like challenges a lot, and I've been in a lot of difficult situations in my career, and this is just one more of them. I can move my thumb a little bit more, and it gets a little bit painful, but once I have my cast on, it's pretty good. As a racecar driver, once you're in the race car, it doesn't matter if you have a problem or not; you are very focused on driving, and you forget about everything else. So I'm hoping that happens to me.

Daniel won't run a 77 in the first round and will need to back it up to beat his teammate and have a shot at the pole. Unfortunately, he backs it into the wall before even taking the green. There's a fire on the driver's side as he tries to re-fire the car. His teammate, Chastain, just went out and topped the board with a 79, giving Daniel more confidence since the track had grip. However, as he aggressively approached the green, the car did not stick and quickly spun around. This incident is tough on a driver's confidence, as losing control feels like a personal failure.
Daniel Suárez Injury Update
Daniel Suárez suffered a broken left leg and a broken left foot in the STP 500 at Martinsville in the SCS. He will miss the next five races in the Sprite Cup Series and return just in time for the regular season finale at the Brickyard. Cole Custer will substitute for him during his recovery.
