Courtney Kupets - Uneven Bars - 2004 U.S. Gymnastics Championships - Women's - Day 1
Speaking of bouncing back, a ruptured Achilles tendon—think about that and think about all the pounding that tendon must take to be a successful gymnast. That's on the ankle of Courtney Kupets. How amazed are you that she's here? Well, you know, it looks like she's going to make the team. Well, that's the differentiation right there—not just that she looks like she's going to make the team, but it looks like she could dominate, and not just do well on the national stage, but do incredibly well internationally. We're using this adjective all the time, but it's remarkable. It looks like she never had an injury. She has been practicing and keeping up with everyone else in the gym, putting in loads of numbers. She is a world champion on this event, changed the order of some of the skills, but it is world-class. Phenomenal start, Courtney Kupets.
