Watch Caleb Ewan Tear My Legs Off (in the Local Group Ride)
In this video, I share scenes from a local bunch ride on the Sunshine Coast, Australia, featuring Caleb Ewan, a professional road cyclist with the UCI World Tour team Lotto Soudal. Caleb, known as one of the best sprinters in the world and a winner of three stages of the Tour de France in 2019, participated in a Noosa bunch ride in 2020. During the offseason, many Aussie pro cyclists, including Caleb, return to their hometowns. In addition to showcasing Caleb's impressive performance, I offer bunch riding tips and tactics and explain an issue with Caleb's bike that contributed to his dominant performance on the Coulomb hills. The video also highlights the severe bushfires affecting Australia and encourages support for disaster relief efforts. The bunch ride covers roughly 55 kilometers, with a competitive segment of about 15 kilometers. The ride attracted a larger group than usual due to the holiday period, and I provide insights into my strategy and power management during the ride. The video concludes with reflections on the importance of training different cycling skills, such as sprinting, and an invitation to join my online training course for road cyclists.
