1974-01-24 Bobby Orr incident
During a hockey game between the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks, Bobby Orr was involved in a controversial incident. Bill White of Chicago used his stick and arm to trip Orr, who then argued with the referee, Wally Harris, for a penalty. This led to a bench minor penalty and a ten-minute misconduct penalty for Orr. The game was delayed as frustrated fans threw debris onto the ice. Despite Boston's strong performance, they trailed 2-1 with only 50 seconds left in the third period. The delay benefited Chicago by allowing their defensive players to rest. The game had to be paused to clear the ice of the dangerous debris.
