Alexandra Trusova suffered a back injury and was unable to perform her free program at the test skates of the national team in Moscow. Despite performing a confident short program, the risk of aggravating her injury was high. Her choreographer, Daniel Glycan House, and coach, Eteri Tutberidze, decided to limit her participation to prevent further harm. Trusova has a history of competing with injuries, having previously won the Grand Prix stage in the USA with a leg injury. She expressed a desire to perform for the fans despite her back issues, which she described as a cumulative effect of previous strain. Trusova hopes to recover in time for the Russian Grand Prix stage in Sochi in late October.
